We thankfully acknowledge & appreciate thousands of volunteers who have signed up for Advani ji’s & NDA’s campaign. It is heartening to see a large number of enthusiastic people like you who want to affect the desired change in India’s political course. We extend a warm welcome to all of you. 

Based on the campaign requirements and volunteers’ expertise and usefulness, we are contacting many of you personally and also collectively. Each one of our volunteers is important for the Campaign. 

Lok Sabha elections are now just a few weeks away, and it is time for action for all of us. We have tried to outline some programmes below, both common as well as specific, for different sets of volunteers to get involved in.

The programmes are being run at various levels, e.g., Individual, State & Central level. While the individual efforts like Online networking & Blogging do not require much additional support, the efforts at State and more specifically at constituency level, need intervention from party at the respective levels [A list of relevant contacts is being furnished below which will be updated from time-to-time. Besides, volunteers contacts are being sent to all States & Constituencies where you will be contacted individually by party people]. 

National programmes are mainly restricted to coordination only. Besides these, a mapping is being done with constituencies where NDA will be fielding it’s candidates. Efforts are on to synergize candidates’ efforts with that of the volunteers. 

Here are some common guidelines and specific tasks for all [ that may or may not need party’s intervention] :

Common Guidelines for Volunteers

These are only preliminary guidelines. A detailed blue-print of the action plan for specific tasks will be notified to the short-listed volunteers in time before the elections. Broadly speaking, when the election dates are announced & candidates for various constituencies are declared, you will be assigned to a constituency-wise/ state-wise community through which you'll organize ground level supporters. [This is already being done in the constituencies where the candidates have been declared.]

This program is designed to work bottom-up. When ordinary citizens come together around a common purpose, your task will be to motivate & mobilize them.  

Apart from the community tasks, here is a list of tasks expected individually from each of our volunteers : 

• Register to vote. Unless you vote, your support is practically meaningless. Besides, each vote counts.
  
• Ensure your friends, relatives and colleagues have registered to vote. [Sites like jaagore.com, indiabanao.com, bangalorevoterid.org etc can be helpful to register. Otherwise, take help of local BJP offices or talk to your state coordinators for guidance.]
  
• Identify Non-voters/ habitual absconders in your neighbourhood/ friend circles. Pursue them to come out & vote.
  
• Build an EARLY INTEREST and mobilize it into an effective ground game to get out their votes. Also, shape early opinions. And do not let this Interest subside.
  
• Use your blog, email groups, orkut/facebook profiles to express your endorsement of BJP/Advaniji. Some of your friends might think 'being political' is not a cool thing. Make sure they change that opinion by openly flaunting your support for the BJP.
  
• Join Facebook/ Orkut pages supporting Advaniji and BJP. Subscribe to Youtube and Twitter updates. Use the power of social media fully - anyone who has interest & ability to influence must mobilize their network of  friends. • Women constitute an important part of the electorate. Reaching out to them, and enlisting women volunteers, should be an integral part of your efforts. You may begin with your colleagues, friends, wives, sisters, daughters, mothers, and relatives. 
  
• Popularize Shri Advaniji’s website and blog amongst friends & acquaintances.[http://blog.lkadvani.in]
  
• Each one of you should try to get at least 5-10 friends from your circle and get them registered with us as volunteers. 
  
• Share with us your e-mail and SMS database so that all your contacts can get our electronic news bulletins and other messages.
  
• Support Neutral Media. 
  
• Read and distribute (email forwards) articles from nationalist, right-thinking columnists. [For example, check the works of Francois Gautier, a French prolific writer covering Indian ethos.] 
  
• Understand party ideology and propagate it. Have you read Pundit Deendayal Upadhyaya's philosophy of Integral Humanism ? Have you read the works of Savarkar, Guruji Golwalkar, Advaniji (My Country My Life), Arun Shourie, Vivekananda, Friedrich Hayek (Road to Serfdom), Edmund Burke (Reflections on the Revolution in France), Francois Gautier etc.
  
• If possible attend BJP election rallies and accompany BJP candidates in door-to-door campaigns. [Please read details below on constituency mapping.]

Specific Tasks 

Mobilize first-time voters. A number of innovative methods can be used for the same ¾ such as displaying "Proud To Be First-Time Voter" stickers/ wrist-bands/ arm-bands/ badges, etc. [Needs ideas & support from volunteers specializing in such tasks. Hold meetings to welcome First-Time Voters (Pratham Matadata Swagat Samaroh) in your neighborhood. Start a campaign around the theme: “To vote is not only a right, but also a responsibility. REGISTER AND VOTE.” [Coordination with local candidates/ party]
 
Organize youth-oriented activities such as holding meetings in college campuses, street plays, etc. Widely disseminate the campaign themes of the BJP/NDA. A good approach would be to spread our campaign communications to the youth, teachers, lawyers, etc in your locality. [ A notional programme has already been launched – advani@campus . Many of our young volunteers are reaching out to various colleges/ institutions currently. Try to prepare a social and demographic profile of the electorate in your neighbourhood. Find out the voting pattern from previous elections. Reach out to all voters, especially to those who are fence-sitters/ undecided voters.
 
Prepare a list of social / religious / cultural / youth / voluntary organizations in your town or neighbourhood. Establish contact with them. Try to influence key activists of these organizations. 
 
Most importantly, link up with your local BJP/ NDA leaders and candidates since your activities will be most effective if carried out in tandem with the local campaign plan. From our side, we will also try to put you in touch with the right people in the states and districts. Specific Programmes

Here are some suggestions for volunteers who have expressed a desire to work among specific groups.

Media Activists:

Establish contact with Journalists, Writers, Bloggers, Freelancers, etc. Provide literature to them about the BJP, NDA and Shri Advaniji. Send us reports about the outcome of these activities. [For getting the relevant material, write to us.]

Volunteer Translators:

Those of you who have an aptitude for, and skills in translation, are most welcome to take up this task. Just as the showcase we have in Urdu in our site, we are planning to have the similar showcase in all other languages. Some effort is already on it this direction but we need more volunteers. Besides the above, you can also translate Shri Advaniji's speeches and other important communications (which are available on the site) in your respective languages (other than Hindi, for which we have in-house translators). The translated material will be presented on the site itself, under different language sections and will also be used by our bloggers in regional languages. Volunteers, whose work is finally selected [after being cross-checked by other volunteers & by the experts on our panel], will get due recognition & will be treated as Volunteer Translators. Their services will then be used regularly by us later also.

We have received details of some of the Blogposts that are actively promoting  BJP, its nationalist ideology and Shri Advaniji. But there are many more that remain unreported. We appeal to all of you in the media and the blogosphere to please help us identify such Blogposts. We intend to showcase Five Best Blogs every fortnight and provide links to them from our website. Online Campaigners:

It's a matter of pride that we now have such a large number of volunteers who have come forward to help run our online campaign. We are grateful to those who are already running various communities. But please do update us on all your activities & progress. Any community, heitherto unreported on any platform - Orkut/ Facebook/ Myspace/ Flickr/ Linkedin/ Twitter/ Big Adda, etc, should be reported ASAP. We also request you all to announce and popularize our forthcoming events. [ As periodically announced on the site. Please follow campaign trail feature on the site closely as we approach elections].

IT specialists/ Volunteer Designers: 

For Web-designers amongst you, we have an interesting task – of designing ad-banners for us. You must have notices that there is a huge online campaign that is underway to popularize our site online. Those who are keen and have the ability to do so, please let us know urgently and we will provide you necessary specifications. Besides, there is an appeal to Techies amongst you. We need some Web-designers/ programmers who can work with us part-time or full-time at the central office in Delhi. Student and Alumni Volunteers:

We see great potential for our campaign by creating the right buzz on campuses. Hence, those of you who want to be campus volunteers, please send us ASAP the details of your universities/ Colleges/ Institutions/ Schools. 

Apart from the communities on the social networking sites, we also need volunteers who are part of various Alumni networks. The alumni associations of IIMs, IITs, RECs (now NITs), Universities, Colleges and schools, Kendtiya Vidyalayas are very important since they have a large outreach. 

All such volunteers will become part of our advani@campus programme immediately the details of which have been given above. 

Field Volunteers:

Friends, you are the last and the most crucial part of the chain. It's you who will ultimately help us translate the momentum generated online into action on the field. Besides, in the end, we will all be field volunteers !

There is no better way of conducting election campaign than to go door-to-door, start a conversation, establish mass contact, and ensure that every potential BJP/NDA voter turns out to vote on the polling day. We suggest that you set a quantitative target, especially among undecided / floating voters, prepare a time table to achieve the target. Remember, your work will be far more effective if you develop a network with influential persons and link up with local Party / NDA activists. We will provide you any back-up support that you may need. [A mapping coordination is being done at state/ constituency level already. You will soon be getting calls from the party.]

NRIs & PIOs:

We are also very happy to welcome a large number of NRIs & PIOs who have offered to volunteer. They are an important part of the campaign.

But since there is no provision unfortunately that can enable them to caste their vote, we have some other programmes in mind for them. But, we also need their inputs on how best we can utilize their expertise. However, we have noticed that a large number of our NRI friends have already taken up various tasks upon themselves. They are blogging and they are taking active part in our forum discussions.

Central Office Volunteers 

Those of you who are willing to work as volunteers at the Central Office for short/ long spells are also welcome.  Please do let us know your areas of strength & send us a mail ASAP.

Volunteer meets

We are planning periodic meetings with our volunteers starting with Delhi. Those of you who are located in Delhi and NCR, are cordially invited to meet us in the Open forum being held in our office every Saturday between 3.00 to 5.00 pm [address given below]. Anybody from NCR & even our friends visiting Delhi from other states are welcome to walk-in.  

But besides this, meet or no meet, you are always welcome to visit us here in the central office. So, do find time to drop in whenever you happen to visit Delhi next. A warm welcome awaits you at our office.  Just let us know a little beforehand. 

Lastly, please remember, we are here together for a reason, for a common cause. And this cause is not just to see Shri Advani ji as PM but to change the destiny of the nation under his leadership. The ultimate aim is to  bring-in the much-needed change to our nation and to put it back again on the path of recovery. To make it strong, prosperous & self- cofident. To make it a leader again in the comity of nations. To reach out to everyone in the far nooks & corners of the country & to touch their lives. To wipe the tears off the face of the downtrodden & improve their lot. To bridge the gap between Bharat & India !
